The Formulas

The formulas used in this calculator are:

1. Fuel Efficiency (MPG):

\[MPG = \frac{Distance Traveled (miles)}{Fuel Used (gallons)}\]

2. Trip Cost:

\[Trip Cost = Fuel Used (gallons) \times Fuel Price ($/gallon)\]

Calculation Steps

1. Calculate the fuel efficiency by dividing the distance traveled by the amount of fuel used.
2. Calculate the trip cost by multiplying the amount of fuel used by the price per gallon.

Example Calculation

Let's calculate the fuel efficiency and trip cost for a journey of 300 miles using 10 gallons of fuel at $3.50 per gallon:

1. Fuel Efficiency = 300 miles ÷ 10 gallons = 30 MPG
2. Trip Cost = 10 gallons × $3.50/gallon = $35.00
